Sponsors?

Yes, sponsors.

As most everyone knows, being an artist generally doesnt make one rich. Mostly, it doesnt even pay the monthly bills. Apart from the names of the artists you now think of that actually can take care of themselves (How many are those?) many of them only got rich after they died. According to a 2004 survey done by one of the Dutch national newspapers, the NRC, there were at the time 250000 artists in the Netherlands at the time, of whom only 5% could just about survive on what they earned by making and selling art. All the others got by on side jobs, grants, gifts, paying partners, or loans. Or eating from dustbins maybe.

I am no exception to that rule, and thus have set up a sponsor scheme to make sure I can pay the rent of my studio, and stay right in the middle of the creative hub that the Binck complex, where my studio is located, is promising to become.

It takes four people to grant me a certain amount per month to cover the rent for the studio, or eight people each paying half of that, or any other combination of people and amount of money selflessly granted.
As I am very grateful for the support that is given me the sponsors get to choose a certain amount of small drawings at the end of their sponsor contract. The longer they support me, the more (or bigger) the drawing(s) they can choose from.

How this plan has been set up and what I offer in return for your support, is explained in detail in the application letter below. Should you, by any chance (yes, I smile as I write this) be interested in supporting my artistic endeavors, please read on....
